​Team Selection

Players are selected on merit after a series of matches. A ranking is drawn up for each age group.  Players may then, after arranging with tennis organiser, challenge a player one place above him on the ranking .

For open tournaments, e.g. the Gerrie Berner Tournament, extra trials are held.

The u.13A & B and u.11A – players are given the opportunity to play out for this team.

(The  tennis organiser may use his discretion if he of the opinion that another player should also get an opportunity.)

Beginners: Maak gebruik van “Play and Stay” tegnieke. Enige leerder van Graad R – 3 mag oefening bywoon.

Middelgroep: Klem op tegniek en wedstrydsituasies. Enige leerder van graad 4 – 7 mag oefening bywoon. (Die tennisorganiseerder mag sy diskressie gebruik om leerders uit die beginners, wat besondere potensiaal toon, na dié oefening te nooi.)

Spanne: Gestruktureerde oefeninge bv. dubbels, plasing, naderhoue ens. Spelers in die o.13A-B en o.11A – spanne moet albei oefeninge bywoon, tensy by die tennisorganiseerder verskoning gemaak is.

Sun Policy

Tennis is mainly a summer sport and therefore the school’s sun policy should be adhered to.

Each boy must bring his own water bottle and sunscreen to practices and matches.

An acceptable covering for the head for tennis must be worn.

Players should be allowed to take a break during matches to keep hydrated.
